Teaching

My approach to teaching is informed by my desire to make the study of the past accessible to all, to encourage the formation of critically thinking and fulfilled individuals, and to link learning to communities. I lecture on topics open to interdisciplinarity and modern approaches (incl. sociological and anthropological theories) that scaffold work-ready, sustainability, enterprise, digital and academic skills. I promote data-informed, digitally-enhanced, student-centred learning design solutions, that prioritise active and social learning, foster authentic content, and create an equitable, diverse and inclusive context. Beyond enthusiastic reviews, evidence of student satisfaction with this approach is the nomination of my course Beauty & the Greeks (UG) for a Teaching Award in the category of ‘Outstanding Course’ (awarded by the Edinburgh University Student’s Association) in 2019/20. I am also an associate Fellow of the AcademyHE.
